It's That Part™ is committed to making its content accessible to all readers, including those who use assistive technologies or have disabilities that affect how they interact with digital content. This page describes our current accessibility practices and how to contact us if you encounter barriers.
Our Conformance Goal
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards as our baseline for accessibility conformance. While we acknowledge that full conformance is an ongoing process — especially for a content-heavy publication with embedded third-party media — we are committed to identifying and addressing barriers as they are discovered. Our goal is continuous improvement, not a one-time checkbox.
Accessibility Practices
Semantic HTML Structure
We use proper heading hierarchy (H1 through H4), landmark elements, and semantic HTML throughout the site to ensure content is navigable and interpretable by screen readers and assistive technologies.
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements on this site — including navigation links, buttons, and form fields — are designed to be operable via keyboard. Users who navigate without a mouse should be able to access all primary functionality.
Color Contrast
We maintain strong contrast ratios between text and background colors to support users with low vision or color sensitivity. Our brand palette of black, white, and gold is chosen with readability as a primary concern.
Descriptive Alt Text
Images throughout the site include descriptive alternative text to convey visual information to users who rely on screen readers. Decorative images are marked appropriately to avoid unnecessary noise in assisted reading.
Responsive and Mobile-First Design
The site is built with a mobile-first approach, ensuring a consistent and usable experience across screen sizes — from smartphones to large desktop displays. Touch targets meet minimum size guidelines for ease of use.
Readable Typography
We use clear, well-spaced type with sufficient line height and font sizing to support comfortable extended reading. Minimum font sizes are maintained throughout, and text does not rely on color alone to convey meaning.
Form Accessibility
All form inputs include visible labels and descriptive placeholder text. Error messages are written in clear, plain language and associated with the relevant field to assist screen reader users in correcting issues.
Embedded Media
Podcast embeds and audio players include title attributes and descriptive context within the surrounding page text. We provide written summaries, key takeaways, and descriptive copy alongside all audio content so that non-hearing users can still access the substance of what is being discussed.
Known Limitations
Third-party podcast embeds from Podbean are provided by an external platform and may not fully conform to WCAG standards. We do not control the accessibility of their embedded player interface. However, we mitigate this by providing written context, show descriptions, and episode summaries alongside every embedded player.
Some older articles may not have been published with alt text on all images. We are committed to reviewing and updating this content over time.
