The Ivy League institution’s success as it battles several government restrictions after a federal prosecutor on Friday slowed the Trump administration’s efforts to stop it from hosting foreign students.
The Harvard is still permitted to sponsor foreign students while the situation is decided thanks to the purchase from U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs in Boston.
In May, Harvard filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security after it withdrew its authorization to house foreign students and matter visa documents. In earlier June, Trump announced a plan to prevent international students from entering the country to enroll in Harvard, using a different legal justification. Burroughs partially stifled the move while Harvard University fought back, as did Burroughs.
The legal battle’s climaxes have irritated existing students and waited for others to learn whether they will be able to enroll in America’s oldest and wealthiest school.
According to the school, the Trump administration’s efforts to stop Harvard from allowing foreign students to enroll there have led to a state of “profound fear, worry, and confusion,” according to a court submitting. Numerous foreign students have inquired about leaving the university, according to Maureen Martin, director of Harvard immigration service.
Trump has been at war with Harvard for decades after it rejected a number of government demands intended to address traditional issues that the institution has tolerated anti-Jewish abuse.
