What Happened: A trio of lawmakers on Tuesday argued that the Trump administration is still” stonewalling” inquiries for details about the company’s most recent withdrawal of hundreds of services contracts.
Sens. Rep. Mark Takano and Richard Blumenthal both claimed that despite repeated demands, the company has kept imperfect and false names that failed to identify exactly which arrangements have been canceled. Lambenthal and Takano are Democrats, and King is an indie. They made their remarks at a unique Washington website.
655 deals canceled by the VA were identified in a review by the Democrat members of the Senate Committee on Veterans ‘ Affairs, compared to dozens of other lists that the agency had previously revealed contained important issues and were disclosed by the company.
The politicians cited a recent ProPublica research into the VA contract evaluation process’s use of a weak artificial intelligence tool. A staff member with no prior experience in government or health care conducted the research for the Department of Government Performance.
