After American strikes on Iran, Pakistan’s reward of Trump for easing tensions with India quickly deteriorated into condemnation.

Less than 24 hours after Pakistan claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump should have won the Nobel Peace Prize for averting a new conflict with India, Pakistan condemned the U.S. president’s bombing of Iran.

Following a tourist slaughter in Indian-controlled Kashmir in April, relations between the two South Asian nations fell. In the weeks that followed, the nuclear-armed competitors began to attack one another until fierce political efforts led by the United States led to a ceasefire, for which Trump was applauded.

Pakistan praised this “decisive political intervention and important leadership” in an effective message on Saturday night on the X platform when it made its official recommendation for him to get the Nobel Peace Prize.

Less than 24 hours later, however, it criticized the United States ‘ attacks on Iran, claiming that the cuts “weren in grave violation of international law” and the International Atomic Energy Agency’s statutes.

Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, made the remarks in a phone call on Sunday with Egyptian President Masoud Pezeshkian that the attacks had targeted services that were under the IAEA’s control. Iran supports its attacks on Israel, saying that it has the right to self-defense, and Pakistan has close relations with Iran.

Islamabad did not respond to the Trump Nobel advice right away on Monday, which came after the president and Asim Munir, a powerful army chief in Pakistan, had a high-profile White House luncheon.

The Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Representative for Middle Eastern Affairs, also took part in Thursday’s conference, which spanned more than two hours.

A comprehensive discussion of points of view was conducted on the “prevailing conflicts between Iran and Israel,” according to a Muslim military speech, with both officials stressing the importance of the solution to the conflict.

Trump quickly thanked Pakistan for his involvement in the country’s dispute with India, but New Delhi downplayed the Kashmir issue and said no need for outside mediation.

Pakistan and India are tasked with claiming the Alpine region of Kashmir in its entirety, despite the fact that both claim it. Pakistan denies that India supports violent organizations in the area.
