State Representative Melissa Hortman, a Democrat from Minnesota, and her father, Mark, were fatally shot at their house last weekend when they were allegedly attempting to kill them.
The strike comes as political crime is becoming more common. More than 9, 000 dangers against members of the U.S. Congress were investigated by Capitol Police last year alone.
Gabby Giffords, a former member of the United States Congress, is only too well aware of the evils of firearm violence. The Arizona Democrat was shot in Tucson during a legislative session in 2011.
