HBO is finally giving Euphoria fans their first look at the long-awaited third season, set to premiere in April.
Outside of the streamer releasing a new teaser highlighting what’s coming next year on HBO and HBO Max, including clips from Season 3, new portrait photos of the season have been released as well, featuring Zendaya’s Rue Bennett, Lexi Howard (Maude Apatow), Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie), Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), Cassie Howard (Sydney Sweeney) and Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer)
The platform also shared new stills from the season.
‘Euphoria’ clips show where the lead characters are now
As we previously reported, the Euphoria clips in the footage around halfway into the teaser and show Lexi at a wedding, which fans suspect may be Cassie and Nate’s nuptials. Maddy looks serious while her former boyfriend, Nate, dances with his shirt open. Cassie appears dressed as a bunny, and Jules, donning darker hair, is shown reclining in a chair.
“A few years after high school, I don’t know if life was exactly what I wished,” Rue says as the clips roll.
Later, the Euphoria protagonist walks into a club and a powerful kingpin, portrayed by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, surrounded by women, eyes her and says, “You walk up into my house, and you don’t even introduce yourself.”
The new images for ‘Euphoria’ Season 3
After releasing the teaser footage, HBO dropped first-look images from Season 3. In them, Rue appears to be in a church pew, echoing a similar scene from the show’s second season. Lexi is captured holding a melting ice cream cone, perhaps in connection with her rumored OnlyFans career on the upcoming season and Nate appears to be preparing food in a kitchen.
Jules looks like she’s become an artist, posing in front of an eerie portrait, and Maddy flaunts a newfound power in a white see-through blouse. Lexi is shown on what looks like a film set, smiling widely.
What to know about ‘Euphoria’ Season 3
Ahead of Euphoria Season 3’s premiere, show creator Sam Levinson shared what fans can expect from the new season. Taking place five years after the events of Season 2, Season 3 will pick up with now-adult Euphoria characters.
“Five years felt like a natural place because if they’d gone to college, they’d be out of college at that time,” Variety reported Levinson said at a sneak peek with British press earlier this month.
He continued, “We basically pick up Rue [Zendaya] south of the border in Mexico, in debt to Laurie [Martha Kelly], trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off.”
Levinson said, “Jules is in art school, very nervous about having a career as a painter and trying to avoid responsibility at all costs. Maddy is working in Hollywood at a talent agency for a manager, she’s obviously got her own side hustles going. And Lexi is an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone, who is just absolutely delightful and a true icon.”
He added, “And then Cassie is living in the suburbs with Nate, they’re engaged, and she’s very addicted to social media and envious of what appears to be the big lives that all of her high school classmates are living at this point in time. I feel strongly this is our best season yet… I will say that Cassie and Nate do, in fact, get married. I’m confirming it. And I promise that it will be an unforgettable night.”
