After months of waiting, a judge has finally handed down a surprising verdict in the case of Sean “Diddy” Combs. The disgraced hip-hop was just sentence to four years and two months, and expectedly, Black folks online have shocking responses.

“A 4 year sentence for Diddy when the max could have been 20 feels light
With time served and parole he might be out in 2 years,” @CJayFenty tweeted. “Wealth still skews justice SMH.”

@allenanalysis said, “He got off easy.” We’ve been keeping up with all of Diddy’s legal woes. Back in July, he was found guilty on two counts of prostitution. To Diddy’s team, this was a legal win after being acquitted on the most serious charge, racketeering.

“[Four] years when he was facing life is a victory for him. His image is forever ruined,” @Cheamane noted on X.

“He’s already been in there for about a year. So next year he’ll probably be free. He definitely going to ask Trump for that pardon,” @LuvLaTiere wrote.

During the sentencing, Diddy addressed the court saying his “actions were disgusting, shameful and sick.” He added, “I was sick. Sick from the drugs, I was out of control.” He even begged the judge for mercy and apologized to his victims and “all the victims of domestic violence.”

Folks like @lovetobunloved predicted Diddy will be let free before his finished sentence. “Diddy is not gonna do the full 50 months lol,” she tweeted.

Two days after he was denied an acquittal and a new trial, Diddy reportedly penned a letter to the judge detailing how he was “dead wrong.” The Bad Boy founder said he’s taking “full responsibility and accountability for my past wrongs” and told the court he’s “sincerely sorry.”

“Diddy booking events for next week cause he think he bout to be let go is an arrogance I never heard of,” @playboixcarson wrote.

I’m surprised he got that much but, it’s not surprising he didn’t get the max.

@NoHoeLeft4Dead_ asked, “Oh wow that’s all !??” Diddy’s lawyers originally asked the judge to hand out a sentence no lighter than 11 years.

“I got a feeling Diddy is gonna find a way to Diddle his way outta these 4 years,” @Mr_Malik466 tweeted.

This is about what I
expected. It doesn’t satisfy those who want to put him away for life or those who feel he did nothing wrong. I think it’s fair. Hopefully, he’s truly sorry for his actions and will spend the rest of his life helping instead of hurting people.

Some users said the sentence was fair. “It doesn’t satisfy those who want to put him away for life or those who feel he did nothing wrong,” @SageAmenti wrote. “I think it’s fair. Hopefully, he’s truly sorry for his actions and will spend the rest of his life helping instead of hurting people.”

Judge Subramanian spoke to Diddy after he handed down the sentence. He promised there’s “light at the end of the tunnel” despite his four-year bid. “Mr. Combs, I know you feel you are in a dark place right now, but these crimes were serious ones,” the judge said. “Mr. Combs, you and your family are going to get through this. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.”
