A Georgian couple is facing legal action after a jury found them guilty of posting graphic videos of their dismembered baby for$ 2.25 million in their complaint.
On Wednesday, a Fulton County judge returned the ruling against Dr. Jackson Gates. Treveon Taylor Jr., the brother of the couple’s children, was decapitated during shipping in July 2023, according to Jessica Ross and Treveon Isaiah Taylor Sr.
They have also brought lawsuits against the hospital where the girl was delivered from and the doctor who delivered it. That event is still pending.
The couple claimed that Gates unlawfully posted some video of the examination on Instagram in a lawsuit filed in September 2023. According to the child’s attorneys, Gates immediately removed the movies after receiving a notice from the woman’s attorneys, but eventually reposted them.
The court’s finding that Gates did not intend to cause damage “flies in the face” of the plaintiffs ‘ “entire case,” according to Ira Livnat, an counsel for Gates, on Saturday.
His customer frequently made articles about autopsies to inform other pathologists and support independent evaluations when he claimed a doctor had engaged in illegal behavior, he said.
After Gates did not immediately respond to their complaint, the pair received a default view for intentional inflicting emotional stress, invasion of privacy, and fraud.
” Dr. Gates testified that he is profoundly sorry for any damage that he unknowingly caused the defendants,” Livnat said. He would never have done it if he had known for a minute that they would see it and that they would recognize it was their baby.
According to the couple’s attorneys, the physician “poured sugar into the couple’s currently extensive wounds” in a statement.
They said,” This young couple trusted him with the remains of their precious baby.” Gates, in turn, repaid this respect by releasing gruesome photos of their children for the world to see.
